Chaffle Recipes

A chaffle is a waffle made of cheese and eggs which makes it low carb and keto-friendly.

Here are the two chaffle recipes I switch between:

1. The Classic Chaffle

Makes 2 with the Dash mini waffle maker. Each chaffle is 1 net carb.

  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup of shredded cheese (reserve 1-2 tablespoons)

Use mozzarella if you’re not looking for a cheese-y flavor, but if you’re up for the cheesiness then definitely use cheddar.

Mix the ingredients, but reserve a small handful of cheese to lay down onto the waffle maker before adding batter and then a bit more afterward – this helps to keep the waffle from sticking and to give crunch.

I generally go back to this recipe even though it has a more egg-ier taste because it’s two ingredients and I’m a lazy bum.

2. The Sandwich Bread Chaffle

Need a vessel for cream cheese, jam, peanut butter or to serve as bread or a base for dessert? Use this. Each chaffle is 2 net carbs.

Whisk together

  • 2 egg whites
  • 2 tsp water
  • 2 tbsp (28g) softened cream cheese

Then add

  • 4 tbsp almond flour
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • pinch of salt
  • pinch of garlic (optional, if going the savory route)

Cook in waffle maker.
