Happy Chinese New Year!
Still using that Gudetama pen.[27/365]
It was some sort of Chinese winter holiday yesterday and there’s a special dish that’s usually served to celebrate it according to my folks. My mum didn’t make it, but she is making it today and it hales from my dad’s village of Toison/Taishan.
The star of this soup bowl of joy are the handmade rice noodles/dumplings. They’re referred to as noodles, but they’re heartier – gnocchi-esque.
It’s a dish my mum learned to make when she came over to the states. Our neighborhood had a few families from my dad’s village and so they taught her.
The soup is made with pork, dried shrimp and winter melon with some napa cabbage.
Dinner can’t come soon enough tonite.
Here’s a sneak peek into some of the sketches and work in progress for this week’s fresh, new comic.
Even if my friends shared the same name, everyone got their own personal thank you sketch 🙂
This was actually fun. Done via Facebook.
And so before I leave for my trip to Japan and Thailand in 6 days — *gulp* — I definitely want to squeeze in a couple comics.
The one coming up on Friday is set at a diner with a little racism thrown in to spice things up.
Oh, you silly people always asking me where I’m from ‘cuz saying that I’m from Boston, born and bred, is never sufficient. Oh, and how I don’t speak with an accent…which then makes me wonder so what if I did speak with an accent?
It’s 2013. People need to get out more.
|Papermate pen doodly-doo.|
It looks like this #Nemo weather situation is going to be a doozy of a blizzard.
The city is pretty much going to be shut down at noon — public transportation will be coming to a halt at 3:30PM. I was wiser this time around and did my essentials shopping yesterday — i.e., milk and a 6-pack of hard cider. I am good to go 😛
Anyhow, apologies for the digital dust bunnies accruing here — work has zonked me out as well as prepping for the Lunar New Year. And by the way, I’m always tempted to refer to it as Chinese New Year like most but Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese and others celebrate it as well. With that being said, please be on the look-out for new comics every Wednesday and Friday.

Mr. Lee asked me about yesterday’s I-hate-goat-cheese comic: “So, how did you do it? Did you do it all with the computer or did you draw it?”
