There are so many options now for art prompt projects in the month of October. This year, I’ve decided to participate in MassArt’s #MassArtober. The running theme for my work will be whatever the prompt is but….make it cute 🙂

Day 31: pumpkin…which, of course, makes me think of Halloween and of candy. and, as I’m stuffing my face full of Milk Duds, the iconic white rabbit candy comes to mind. it’s great to end this art prompt project on a sweet note because it’s been an amazing month of artwork – so much so that this project continues.
Day 29: a har gow, aka crystal skin shrimp dumpling which has absolutely nothing to do with the art prompt because I just want to now take the opportunity to work on my own things.
Day 26: dust…because the banana as we know it, aka the Cavendish, are on the verge of extinction and will most likely bite the dust.
Day 25: underground…makes me think of the subway, especially my fave MBTA orange line.
Day 22: cafe…makes me think of latte art and proper cups.
Day 21: storm…as in a bunch of boba balls storming the milk tea.
Day 20: mystery…as in, you never know what you’re gonna get.
Day 19: shadows…and light from a candy corn.
Day 18: mastodon…
Day 17: fountain…
as in soda fountains…as in, it can become a geyser if you’re not careful.
Day 16: library…
makes me think of the green lamps from the classic themed room at the Boston Public Library.
Day 15: masked…
a ghost in a mask looking forward to tricks and treats.
Day 14: museum…
as in Boston Children’s Museum iconic milk bottle.
Day 13: dinner…
steamed baby bok choy with soy sauce. I eat this a LOT.
Day 12: falling leaves…
Day 11: academia…
makes me think of apples for teachers and old school wire frames.
Day 10: sleep…
the full moon with a cloud blanket.
Day 9: self-portrait…
I am a baked bbq pork bun…generally sweet and happy with a lovely glaze coating, but too much of me is bad for your health.
Day 8: smoke…
from a slice of burnt toast
Day 6: squash…
as in the supreme squash of them all – the fuzzy squash aka moqua. this one is dedicated to my dad and to all the dads and moms who are hell bent on growing the biggest ones and then forcing their loved ones to eat it for weeks on end.
Day 5: neon…
that bright, green hair of Pizzazz, lead singer of the Misfits, from one of my favorite cartoons Jem immediately popped into my head.
Day 4: studio…
Hanna-Barbera animation studio character Captain Caveman
Day 3: moon…
cakes. I know, I know. Mid Autumn Festival is over but not in my heart or for these two salted egg yolks nestled in some sweet lotus paste.
Day 2: spirit…
love.
Day 1: raven…
I keep thinking about Edgar Allan Poe and the color black.
