You were born here or you were so little when you got here that you don’t remember not ever having been here. And so, you don’t really think about how you got here – or at least, I didn’t really. It’s what I’ve grown up with and it’s what I know. So, I don’t question it … until I did.
Our family came here as refugees? But, we didn’t come here by boat. That’s the stereotype I had.
But, yeah, my family came to the US as refugees.
I was born here and so I’ve never given much thought about how my family got here.
